Shops at Willow Bend to add new seven-story office building
A Dallas-based development firm — Encore Enterprises — plans to build a new office building next to The Shops at Willow Bend in Plano in hopes of meeting some of the demand for high-quality office space in the North Texas city.
The seven-story, 200,000-square-foot Class A office tower will sit adjacent to the mall's food court and will be integrated into Dillard's parking garage. The building could accommodate up to 800 employees.
The office building is part of The Shops at Willow Bend $125 million expansion and will add much-needed Class A office space to the market, said Barry Smith, general manager for the property.
"This is a terrific addition to Willow Bend," Smith said, in a statement. "This demonstrates that The Shops at Willow Bend is growing with the Plano area."
The would-be office tenants would have access to the mall's yet-to-be announced upscale, 30,000-square-foot health and fitness club, as well as the two-level, 60,000-square-foot restaurant district.
Encore's President of Commercial Development Nicholas Barber said the firm was proud to be part of this expansion project.
This is the latest of the expansion plans at the mall to be announced. Recently, Crayola announced a new 60,000-square-foot Crayola Experience concept with 5,000-square-foot retail store, which will come to the mall next spring between the food court and Macy's.
The development details of the office building were not immediately available on Friday.
