Toyota to soon begin moving thousands of employees into its Legacy West campus
Toyota North America, a subsidiary of Toyota Motor Corp. (NYSE: TM), will soon begin moving the first few hundred employees into its new Legacy West campus, with thousands more to follow by the end of the year as the Japanese automaker gets settled into its new corporate home in Plano.
About 250 team members and corporate partners will begin to relocate into the 100-acre, 2.1 million-square-foot corporate campus beginning on May 15, Aaron Fowles, a Toyota spokesman, told the Dallas Business Journal.
"It's been all hands-on deck here," Fowles told the DBJ."We will have about 250 team members and corporate partners moving here beginning in May and then we will move a few hundred people every week until the end of the year."
The campus will have enough room to accommodate 6,500 employees. Each week, Toyota North America will move, on average, about 250 employees into the campus, Fowles said.
Last month, Toyota North America had a contingent of employees and corporate partners co-locate with the construction contractors to "facilitate a smooth handoff of the buildings and systems, as well as make final preparation prior to the move in," he said.
Toyota North America — which is relocating its headquarters from Torrance, California — is expected to host an invitation-only grand opening of their new Plano campus in the near future.
Dallas-based KDC is the developer. Dallas-based Corgan is the project architect. Dallas-based Austin Commercial is the general contractor on the campus.
