Gaedeke Celebrates One Legacy West's Topping Out

PLANO, Texas – Hundreds attended yesterday's "Topping Out" ceremony for One Legacy West. Topping-out celebrations are an important tradition in new construction projects because they recognize those who have worked on the building project and mark a significant milestone in the life of the structure.

During the ceremony, the final beam, painted white for the occasion, was accompanied by the Texas and American flag, which were hoisted to the top of the 14-story structure. The beam was signed by Plano Mayor Harry LaRosiliere, city councilmen Rick Brady and Tom Harrison, Gaedeke Group employees and countless construction workers.

The mayor described One Legacy West as "the entrance to the Legacy West (district) and the center of the universe," pointing to its powerhouse corporate neighbors, including Toyota, Frito-Lay, JCPenney, Liberty Mutual and FedEx.

One Legacy West's 327,856-sf office tower, located at the southeast corner of Legacy Drive and Sam Rayburn Tollway, is set for completion in December. Upon completion, Gaedeke’s Class AA tower office environment will feature such amenities as an on-site management and engineering team; 24-hour on-site officer and card-key access;  conference center; fitness center; tenant lounge and game area; concierge service; and courtesy shuttle to Legacy West’s 300,000 sf of retail and restaurants as well as the Renaissance Hotel. The Gaedeke project will also feature a Wi-Fi-enabled outdoor terrace with collaborative seating areas and transparent fireplaces connecting the parking garage to the building. There will be electric car-charging stations and secure bike storage in the garage.

"We put a lot of thought and effort in the designing of this building for the 21st century.  We could not image a better location than the progressive City of Plano," said Sabine Gaedeke Stener, CEO of Dallas-based Gaedeke.

"Quality buildings like this allows Plano to attract world-class companies. I'm excited about this project and what it means to the community," LaRosiliere told the crowd at the topping-out ceremony.

The 14-story One Legacy West boasts a LEED Gold design by Morrison Dilworth + Walls of Dallas. Austin Commercial is the project's general contractor, with Andres Construction serving as construction manager and Belle Firma as landscape architect.
